xp_crypt_get_var

This function is used to get a session variable previously set with xp_crypt_set_var. This value will be available only in the current SQL session. Useful to store passwords or any other session persistent variables.

Syntax

xp_crypt_get_var  { variable_name, value OUTPUT }

Arguments

variable_name

VARCHAR. Name of the variable.

value

VARCHAR. Value of the variable. 

Return Code Values

0 - success, or Error code if failed.

Permissions

Execute permissions default to the public role.

Example

declare @v varchar (8000)

exec xp_crypt_set_var 'password','secret' 

exec xp_crypt_get_var 'password', @v output

select @v
